I can't seem to stay away from the Baltimore area lately...
The weather was too nice in the DC area on Saturday to waste, but I still wanted to skate out of town for a min. I felt like driving.
The contactors returned with their drilling and banging. I was in no mood for a headache and the Snickerdoodle wanted out. I called my brother, Chuck, to see if he wanted to take a ride with us to either Baltimore or Annapolis. I was thinking more so of Fells Point in Baltimore. I don't know... for some reason I felt like being near some water, but the funny thing was I didn't feel like being bothered with crowds of people. Fells Point STAYS crowded, but I still like the energy of the place. Nevertheless, Chuck didn't answer. I even thought about "kidnapping" Papi for the ride, especially since I had a feeling I would be stopping at my favorite crab place near the Owings Mills area. Papi loves seafood. However, I left him alone.
I believe Saturday was meant for mother/daughter time anyways.
It was just me and the Snickerdoodle riding up the Baltimore/Washington Parkway for the second time this week. With some extra "cushion" in my "stash", I was able to splurge on myself a bit. Well, the previous day I was able to upgrade to a new phone. While in the Baltimore area, the Carrie Bradshaw in me made me stop by my favorite shoe warehouse. I bought a nice pair of peep toe black patent leather Enzo Angiolini heels. I didn't dawn on me until I got home that I haven't worn black patent leather shoes since I was 18!!! Why have been holding out for so long?
Nevertheless my Snickerdoodle and I enjoyed our day together with the shoe shopping, a stop at a grocery store to pick up a few items for her and dinner at Captain Harvey's along Reisterstown Rd.
Now the rain is pouring, the Snickerdoodle is asleep, the house is quiet.
I feel like writing.
Good Night.
Top of the day invisible readers!
Just an update on the spyware/virus sit-chee-a-shun.
As I mentioned the other night, I am a Dork for being virtually vulnerable to some spyware that did a sneak attack. After check out my system the next day, I found it was still there. I wasn't surprised. As I said before I had briefly read up on that particular spyware/virus and knew it was pretty hard to get rid of. Well I went on to read more, mainly those geek tech message boards.
Side Note: I didn't realize there were goooooooooooooooooooooobs of them out there!
Needless to say I was reading on something called ComboFix, which is a spyware removal application, but it only removes certain viruses. Thankfully the one I had was on the list. So I downloaded and viola! Totally removed! No more eye sore of a Red X in the cover of my screen, no more error messages popping up that conflict.
I'm such a hard core nerd that is disguised as a rock star!
Side Note: Yeah I'm the rock star! Why? Because I said so!
I'm feeling particularly upbeat today as I begin to complete duplicate portfolio package of my work. It's the icing on the cake to submit to the publication I met with in Bethesda, MD last Thursday. Will I be a permanent fixture in their little office? I don't know.
Just before I get started with that, I'm doing my morning rounds outside of my mommy duties. Checking emails, that sort of thing. I logged onto MySpace to check in on my favorite DJ, Ben Watt. I feel bad that I'm missing him again this year in Miami at the Winter Music Conference. It's an annual gathering of DJs from all over, with a lot of my favs from the House music(and sub genres of House music) realm in attendance. Last year I had made (mental) plans to attend as well as a return visit to see my friend/business partner and catch up. However, that was before I found out I was pregnant and given a due date of the latter part of March. Of course I X'd out the thought immediately and my Snickerdoodle arrived just as the conference came to a close on the 30th. Now I realize, unless I come up with a good plan to attend the conference and to throw a celebration for my daughter's birthday there's always gonna be a conflict, with me (of course) choosing my daughter's birthday over the WMC. I will say, if I do get to attend I'm dragging my brother Chuck with me (looking in his direction) ---> *insert cheesy grin*
Since I'm on this DJ business, a few times I've had dreams in which I was spinning some tunes at some party, or hosting my own radio show for the local station WPFW (89.3 FM), playing all the tunes from the underground.
It's just a dream though... right?
I guess with anything....
Everybody wants to be a DJ
Everybody wants to be a writer
Everybody wants to be a fashion designer
Everybody wants to be a singer (look at those poor non-singing saps on American Idol)
Everybody wants to be a heard some kind of a way
Everybody wants to be a.......star.
The next big thing to hit the streets since hot shit.
In the meantime... I'll continue writing and being a DJ groupie.
But first I gotta change a diaper. Smells like the Snickerdoodle dropped "Da Bomb!"
Happy Sunday.
P.S. I'm so CORNfused since this early time change thing. How jack'd up it is that time went up early this year??? I mean I'm ready for spring too, but this is "Luda!"
Why must man continue to interfere with nature and in the process up jack up our internal clocks?
Oye!
I am a Dork!
This evening I was sitting here minding my own beezwax.
Chit chatting with Suga Mama and coming up with some plans for tomorrow evening with Papi.
Then it happened.
The horrid spyware attacking from left field.
Spyware suspect: Winivstr.exe
I managed to clear it (I think) through the suited up Norton 360 software. Norton quarentined and removed any threats/viruses to the system
After doing some cross checking I did find that the the bugger could be a nusance to get rid of. After tinkering a bit I found the bugger hidden in the .. of course hidden system files... I manually deleted it
I think all is well.
Norton is telling me no threats. no viruses. I'm secured.
Yet.. there is that linger icon I can get rid of that that stupid infection left behind. A big ass RED X in the corner of the taskbar. Every once in a while it will pop up to say my system is infected.. when all the legit stuff is telling me it's not.
Right now I have the icon hidden. It's really an eye sore and worrisome.
I pray that this isn't the beginning of a system that is underseige.
I killed off the pawns so all that is left is the lone warrior??????
This is what I get for looking into a new night spot that has opened up downtown and asked me to override a few rules to allow their site to run properly.
Maybe that's a sign.... Papi and I should just go bowling instead. Besides... drinks will be cheap(er).
Show us what you want, but can't have.
Curse the day I left Verizon Wireless and went to T-Mobile. Though both companies have been good to me - despite T-Mobile's lazy reception on my residential block and complete refusal to "live" underground in the subway system - I'm stuck with T-Mobile for a while. Therefore, I'm missing out on the Pink Blackberry Pearl. The Pink Pearl is exclusive to Verizon Wireless. Meanwhile, over at the T-Mobile factory standard colors blue, black, and white are churched out along with gold and ruby red. I believe when I have some extra cushion to splurge, I'll upgrade to the Ruby Pearl.
Right now I'm stuck with my (now) unsexy Samsung Slider that I've had for two years.
Hard to believe, me - a snail in the hi-tech digital world - wants a Blackberry. Could it be that my life as grown this "complicated" and or too "busy" to keep up with using an old fashion bound date book/agenda and a simple digital cell phone that happens to have a camera attached to it?
Maybe I'm just lusting after the color?
So, I'm always yapping about how I'm the "analog girl in a digital world." - It took me forever to get a cell phone with a camera.
However, these last couple of days without my cell has been a bit.... ummmmm... of a nuisance. My phone has been cut off since a day before I left Myrtle Beach to come home. I kind of expected it to be since I have one of those accounts with T-Mobile where if you go over your spending limit they will interrupt service. (Although I can elect to have limit taken off, I don't want to for the simple fact I don't want to owe them hundreds of dollars)
Of course by the time I reached the South Carolina border another cell tower picked up the service and I knew whatever call or text messaging that took place would be astronomical.
(side note: T-Mobile has been good to me, but I soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo miss Verizon, especially if I'm underground in on a subway train. I need to hurry up and get back with them)
Ok... in my case.. that was soooooooooo not true.
I just received my bill in the mail and as it turns out, my service was interrupted not because of Suncom picking up T-Mobile's service. It was mainly due to me over text messaging.
Oye! (Insert Homer Simpson Expression here ----> D'Oh!)
Maybe it's time to change my plan a bit to up the text messaging limit or make it unlimited. Or maybe I need to seek text messaging anonymous at this point?
Anywho.. guess I'll suck it up and pay the bill tomorrow. I do need my phone. I'm coming to realize it is a necessity. I'm a mom on the go.
So no more Analog Girl for me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
